Wastewater Technical Assistance
NCRWA’s Wastewater Specialists assist public and private wastewater systems in their operational efforts to protect public health and comply with complex State and Federal regulations. Funding for our Wastewater Specialists is provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service.

System support includes:
- Permit compliance, renewals, and reviews
- Assistance with sanitary sewer overflows, public notices, notice of violation letters
- Routine smoke testing (Assist in locating and/or isolating a known area of inflow/infiltration)
- System-wide smoke testing (Assist in locating cracks/damaged areas in the collection system that contribute to the overall system inflow and infiltration)
- Collection system and treatment process troubleshooting
- Camera/video of collection system lines
- Operational support for wastewater treatment processes, laboratory and testing techniques, and sampling protocol
- Operator examination reviews
- Emergency Response to natural disasters and other crisis situations
- Administrative help with various reporting requirements such as E-DMRs, Annual Wastewater Performance Reports, Standard Operating Procedures, FOG programs
