Danny Smith

Danny is a Training Specialist for NCRWA, focused on teaching Backflow and Cross-Connection Control Tester certification to those in the water industry and ORC certification to those employed by North Carolina water municipalities.

I started my water career by serving 8 years as a meter reader, meter supervisor, and backflow technician for the Cabarrus County Utilities system. With the encouragement from my director, I applied for the position of Backflow Administrator for the City of Concord, where I developed and managed the Cross-Connection Control program for 22 years until retirement.

With a desire to stay in the water industry, I worked for Fortiline Water Works as a Pricing Specialist until the opportunity developed to become an instructor for NCRWA. Since 2019, NCRWA has been my awesome work family.

On the personal side, I enjoy camping with my wonderful wife and spending time with our daughter. I continue to enjoy creating, writing, and playing music in the band I share with a great group of musicians.
